Bihar: 1st State to Adopt E-Voting System
- Recently, Bihar became the first state in India to introduce mobile-based e-voting, which was rolled out during the municipal elections on June 28, 2025.
- The Android-based platform, “e-Voting SECBHR”, developed by C-DAC in collaboration with the Bihar State Election Commission, is designed to make voting more accessible, especially for migrant workers, elderly citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities (Divyang voters).
- Equipped with advanced features like blockchain technology, real-time face scanning, biometric authentication, and audit trails, the system promises strong digital security, transparency, and tamper-resistant voting—marking a significant step forward in India’s electoral process.
