MAHA Water Program: Boosting Innovation in Water Sector
On 1st June 2026, the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the Ministry of Jal Shakti launched the Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA) for Water program.
What is MAHA Water Program?
- National Platform: It has been conceived as a national platform to accelerate innovation in the water sector by connecting science, entrepreneurship, industry, academia and grassroots action
- Objective: To support innovations from laboratory research to field deployment while generating scalable and localised solutions for strengthening India’s long-term water security.
- Five Focus Areas:
- Water Resource Assessment and Sustainable Management: Improving monitoring, planning, and sustainable utilisation of water resources.
