Social empowerment means the removal of all existing inequalities and anomalies created by society. It involves providing easy access to basic services and helping marginalized groups participate fully in social, economic, and political life.

5 Components (SPACE Model)

According to the 'Cultivate Model', there are five key dimensions:

  1. Skill: Capacity building.
  2. Purpose: Meaningful goals.
  3. Autonomy: Freedom to make decisions.
  4. Community: Social connection.
  5. Engagement: Active participation.

Principles/Levels of Empowerment

Empowerment applies at four levels:

  1. Individual Level: Development of self-confidence and self-worth.
  2. Family Level: Decision-making within the family.
  3. Community Level: Collective participation.
