Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)

Recently, nearly 17,036 complaints have been received by States/UTs on “irregularities” and “poor work quality” in projects initiated under the Jal Jeevan Mission, with about 84% coming from Uttar Pradesh alone.

  • JJM was launched on August 15, 2019, with the ambitious goal of providing tap water supply to every rural household by 2024.
  • This initiative is intended to reduce the rural-urban divide and enhance public health.
  • It is based on a community approach to water and will include extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) as key components of the mission.
  • Funding Pattern for Jal Jeevan Mission:
    • 50:50 between Centre and States.
