A Decade of POCSO
Recently, a report titled ‘A Decade of POCSO’ was released by the Justice, Access and Lowering Delays in India (JALDI) Initiative, in collaboration with the Data Evidence for Justice Reform (DE JURE) program at the World Bank.
The report was released to mark the completion of a decade of enactment of Indian legislation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012(14th November, 2022).
About POCSO Act
- It was enacted in 2012 in order to effectively address the heinous crimes of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children through less ambiguous and more stringent legal provisions.
