Challenges of corruption

In our society, corruption and abuse of office has been aggravated by following factors:

• Due to colonial legacy of unchallenged authority and propensity to exercise power arbitrarily, public officials deviate from ethical conduct quite easily.
• Enormous asymmetry of power in our society, arising from almost 90% people in unorganized sector and merely 10% in organized sector, has reduced the societal pressure to conform to ethical behavior and made it easy for public servants to indulge in corruption.
