On 15th May, 2023, World Health Organization (WHO) released a report, titled “Incentivising the development of new antibacterial treatments 2023”.
Key Highlights
- Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) remains one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity, associated with the deaths of 4.95 million people in 2019, more than HIV or malaria.
- AMR is a threat to the global economy, with impacts on international trade, heath care costs and productivity. If no action is taken, AMR could cost the world’s economy USD 100 trillion by 2050.
- The World Bank predicts global losses of up to 3.8% of annual gross domestic product (GDP) ....
