Vesak Day
- Buddha Purnima, also known as Vesak, Vesakha, or Buddha Jayanti, is seen on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Vaishakha.
- In 2025, it fell on Monday, 12 May, which marked the 2587th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha.
- It is believed that Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, which today remains the most revered pilgrimage site for Buddhists across the globe.
- It is also considered a 'triple-blessed day' as it marks Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and Maha Parnirvana. It has been recognised by the United Nations as the ‘UN Day of Vesak’ since ....
