Recently, researchers and local groups renewed efforts to secure UNESCO World Heritage status for the megalithic site of Chokahatu in Jharkhand.

  • Munda’s Burial Site: It is burial complexes associated with the traditions of the Munda people.
  • Location: It is located in the Bundu-Sonahatu region of Ranchi district.
  • Etymology: The name Chokahatu is derived from the Austric Mundari language and means “a place of mourning.”
