Recently, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs informed Parliament about continuing demands to include Gor Boli in the Eighth Schedule.

About Gor Boli

  • Indo-Aryan: Gor Boli is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Banjara community. It is also known as Lambadi, Lamani, or Banjari.
  • Family: Western Indo-Aryan language group.
  • Script: It has no native script. It is written using Devanagari, Telugu, or Kannada scripts depending on the region.
  • Speakers: Spoken primarily by the nomadic and settled Banjara (Lambada) communities.
  • Distribution and Usage States: Found heavily across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
