Muzhiyan Kulam
Recently, the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the restored Muzhiyan Kulam, a more than 400-year-old historic pond, at Pooranankuppam in Puducherry.
- The Muzhiyan Kulam is located near Thavalakuppam at Pooranankuppam in Puducherry.
- It is also known as Naangu Mozhi Kulam.
- It is a more-than-400-year-old historic pond and is believed to date back to the Pallava period.
- It employs the ‘Naangu Mozhi’ (four wells) rainwater management system, which links a main surface tank to four natural spring-fed wells through a network of underground chambers.
- It has traditionally served as a source of drinking water and irrigation for the village.
