NIOS Mission for Mainstreaming School Dropout Children
On 16 May 2026, the Department of School Education and Literacy, in meeting discussed the issue of out-of-school children, especially in the 14-18 age groups.
- It also reviewed the implementation strategy for the proposed National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) initiative.
Key Issues Identified
- The serious concern of school dropouts was highlighted by the Chairman where it was noticed that out of every 100 children entering Class I only 62 reached Class XII.
