According to a recently published study, an imbalance in nitrogen availability has been reported across the globe, with some places having an excess and others a shortage of the element.
- Nitrogen gas makes up 78% of our atmosphere. Essential to life on Earth, it is also a part of many molecules like proteins, nucleic acids, etc.
- The strong indications of declining nitrogen availability in many places and contexts are another important reason to rapidly reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
