Nameri Tiger Reserve

Recently, Assam announced that the tiger population in Nameri Tiger Reserve increased from 3 in 2022 to 12 by 2025, marking a significant conservation achievement validated by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).

  • The increase has been attributed to sustained conservation efforts undertaken by the Assam Government.
  • Nameri Tiger Reserve is located in Sonitpur district, Assam, and shares a contiguous boundary with Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • It is one of the four tiger reserves in Assam, along with Kaziranga, Manas, and Orang.
  • The Jia Bhoroli River flows through the reserve.
