Extreme Heat Threatens South Asia’s Future Growth

Recently, a new World Bank report titled “A Livable Future: Protecting Jobs and Growth from Extreme Heat in South Asia’s Cities” warns that extreme heat could severely affect South Asia’s health, jobs and economic growth by 2070.

What Does the Report Highlight?

  • 520 Million People: About 520 million people could face at least one month of dangerous heat annually by 2070.
  • Extreme Heat: Around 1.1 billion people could experience at least one day of theoretically unlivable heat.
