On 4th August 2026, a $200 million global initiative has been launched to recover 100 critically endangered species.

What is the Phoenix Species Project?

  • Target Species: It focuses on species with extremely small populations.
  • Extinct in Wild: It also supports species surviving only under human care.
  • Collaborative Approach: Indigenous communities, scientists and conservationists will participate.

Who is Funding the Project?

  • Bezos Earth Fund: Contributed $100 million to the initiative.
  • Re:wild: Provided another $100 million for species recovery.
