  • On 21st April 2025, Pope Francis passed away aged 88, after a prolonged battle with bilateral pneumonia. He had been under hospital care since February.
  • As the Pope, he served as the visible head of the Catholic Church and the Bishop of Rome, presiding over the Holy See.
