  • On 8th April, International Roma Day is observed to commemorate the First Romani Congress in 1971 and raise awareness about the Roma people and their culture.
  • The Roma are an ethnolinguistic group consisting of various sub-groups like the Sinti, Manouche, Romiche, and Kale.
  • In 2018, the Roma population was estimated to be between 10 and 12 million worldwide, with around 6 million residing in the European Union.
