Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan Sign Border Demarcation Deal

On 13^th March 2025, the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed an agreement to demarcate their disputed border, aiming to resolve long-standing territorial conflicts that led to deadly skirmishes in recent years.

• The border between the two countries has witnessed sporadic deadly clashes over access to water and natural resources since 1991.
• Under the agreement, Kyrgyzstan will receive 25 square kilometers from Tajikistan in exchange for land and improved access to shared water resources.
