Padma Barrage Project

Recently, Bangladesh approved the Padma Barrage Project, a major river engineering initiative on the Padma River (the Bangladesh stretch of the Ganga) in Rajbari district.

  • The project aims to address water scarcity and drought conditions in southwestern Bangladesh, which have been linked to reduced dry-season flows following the construction of the Farakka Barrage in India.
