India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)

On 17th June 2026, India and the United Kingdom announced that the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Agreement on Social Security (Double Contribution Convention - DCC) will enter into force on 15th July 2026, marking a major milestone in bilateral economic relations.

Key Features of CETA

  • The agreement comprises 30 chapters, covering trade in goods and services, digital trade, financial services, telecommunications, intellectual property, government procurement, MSMEs, innovation and sustainability.
  • Provides zero-duty access on nearly 99% of India's tariff lines, covering almost 100% of India's export value to the UK.
  • India has protected sensitive sectors such as:
    • Dairy products
    • Cereals ....
