India-Oman CEPA Came into Force

On 1st June 2026, the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) came into force, marking a major step in strengthening economic and strategic ties between India and Oman.

  • The agreement was signed on 18 December 2025.

Key Features of India-Oman CEPA

  • Oman granted immediate duty-free access to:
    • All 945 textiles and apparel tariff lines.
    • Handicraft products.
  • Removed the existing 5% Most Favoured Nation (MFN) duty on these products.
  • Introduced a fully digital Certificate of Origin (CoO) system, enabling seamless electronic verification of trade documents.
  • Strengthened cooperation on:
    • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
    • Recognition of Geographical Indications (GI).
