Answer: India has 18 SaaS unicorn compared to one in 2018 making India third largest SaaS ecosystem globally, after USA and China.
Software as a Service (SaaS) is software licensing and delivery model in which third-party provider builds applications on cloud infrastructure and makes them available to customers via the internet. For example, Outlook, Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail, etc.
Advantages of SaaS
- Generally subscription-based with flexibility to change subscriptions as and when needed and no up-front licence fees resulting in lower initial costs.
- Application is already installed and configured in cloud, minimizing common delays resulting from traditional software deployment.
