Swachh Shehar Jodi Initiative
On 27th September 2025, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the Swachh Shehar Jodi (SSJ) initiative, a structured mentorship and collaborative action program involving 72 mentor cities and around 200 mentee cities.
Need
- Over successive editions of Swachh Survekshan—the world’s largest urban sanitation and waste management survey, several cities have consistently excelled, showcasing outstanding performance, strong citizen participation, and robust governance, even amidst leadership changes and operational hurdles.
