National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission

Recently, the Supreme Court expressed concern over the pending cases in the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission and asked the Centre to consider setting up regional and circuit benches to clear the backlog.

  • National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission is a quasi-judicial commission set up in 1988 under the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
  • Its mandate is to provide inexpensive, speedy, and summary redressal of consumer disputes.
