Centre Launches 3 New Initiatives to Strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions

Recently, the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched the Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme, SAMARTH Panchayat Portal, and released the Model Own Source of Revenue (OSR) Rules to strengthen the financial autonomy and digital governance of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

1. Atmanirbhar Panchayat Programme

  • About: It is a national initiative to help Gram Panchayats and Block Panchayats develop sustainable Own Source of Revenue (OSR).
  • Aim: To identify local assets and opportunities and convert them into bankable, revenue-generating projects.
