CSIR Scientists Unveil Advanced Genome-Editing Tool
Recently, scientists at Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) in New Delhi have developed an enhanced genome-editing system that surpasses current CRISPR technologies in precision and efficiency.
Enhanced Precision with FnCas9
- Superior Targeting: The new system utilizes an engineered version of the FnCas9 enzyme from the bacterium Francisella novicida. Adjustments to amino acids in FnCas9 have improved its binding affinity to the protospacer-adjacent motif (PAM) sequence on DNA, making gene editing more accurate.
