- The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) play a vital role in the food safety ecosystem of India.
- FSSAI’s mandate includes setting comprehensive science-based standards for food products and overseeing their production, storage, distribution and import.
- The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 consolidates various Acts and Orders which were earlier overseen by various Ministries and Departments.
