PM-NAPS Extended for North-Eastern Region
On 17th July 2026, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has extended the Special Intervention for Promotion of Apprenticeship in the North-Eastern Region (NER) under the Prime Minister's National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) for FY 2026–27.
- The initiative will be implemented by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati to expand apprenticeship opportunities and improve youth employability across all eight North-Eastern States.
Key Highlights
- Expanded Coverage: Target increased to 30,000 apprentices, about 15% higher than the pilot phase.
- Balanced Opportunities:
- 15,000 apprentices to receive training outside the North-East, including in Central Government departments and PSUs.
