Government Directive against AI Tools
On 29th January 2025, the Ministry of Finance advised government officials to “strictly avoid” Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT and DeepSeek on official devices due to concerns over data confidentiality.
Key Directives
- A circular issued by the Department of Expenditure (DoE) warned that AI tools pose risks to government data and documents.
- Officials were instructed to avoid using AI apps on office computers and devices.
Global AI Restrictions
- Australia and Texas have banned DeepSeek on government devices due to security concerns.
- Italy and South Korea have also raised privacy issues regarding DeepSeek.
