Restructuring of Skill India Programme
On 7th February 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the restructuring and continuation of the Skill India Programme (SIP) till 2026, with an outlay of Rs. 8,800 crore from 2022-23 to 2025-26.
- This aims to build a future-ready workforce by integrating demand-driven, technology-enabled, and industry-aligned training.
Key Provisions
- Integration of Three Flagship Schemes: The new structure consolidates Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 (PMKVY 4.0), PM National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS), and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Scheme under one comprehensive program.
- Industry-Aligned Training: PMKVY 4.0 introduces 400+ new courses in AI, 5G, Cybersecurity, Green Hydrogen, and Drone Technology while integrating On-the-Job Training (OJT) ....
