Answer: SBM-U 2.0 aspires to eradicate rubbish from all cities except those covered by AMRUT, to make all urban local bodies ODF+ and those with fewer than 1 lakh people ODF++, and to accomplish the objective of safe sanitation in urban areas. For successful solid waste management, the Mission will focus on solid waste source segregation, leveraging the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), scientific processing of all types of municipal solid waste, and rehabilitation of legacy dumpsites.
