Three New Cultural Sites added to UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites
Recently, three new cultural sites in India-Sun Temple at Modhera, historic Vadnagar town in Gujarat and rock-cut relief sculptures of Unakoti in Tripura, have been added to the tentative list of UNESCO world heritage sites.
With this, India now has 52 sites on UNESCO Tentative List
Sun Temple of Modhera
- It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the solar deity Surya.
- It is located at Modhera village of Mehsana district, Gujarat.
- It is situated on the bank of the river Pushpavati.
- It was built after 1026-27 CE during the reign of Bhima I of the Chaulukya dynasty.
- No worship is offered now and is protected ....
