Indian Navy Commissions INS Imphal
On 26th December, 2023, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Imphal, a Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer and the third vessel of the Visakhapatnam class, marking a significant leap in naval capabilities and technology.
Project 15B
- Evolution from Project 15A: The inception of Project 15B followed the commissioning of three Kolkata-class guided missile destroyers (INS Kolkata, INS Kochi, and INS Chennai) under Project 15A between 2014 and 2016.
- Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders: All vessels, including Visakhapatnam-class destroyers, were crafted by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, a key Defence PSU in India.
