IUCAA Discovers X-ray Binary System in Magellanic Bridge

Recently, an IUCAA-led team has discovered the first known X-ray binary system in the Magellanic Bridge, using observations from the space-based eROSITA X-ray telescope.

  • The system contains a white dwarf that is drawing gas from a much larger giant star, producing strong X-ray emission.
