AI Framework Uncovers Hidden Cancer Stem Cells
On 12th August 2026, Indian researchers developed ACSCeND, an AI framework that identifies hidden cancer stem-like cells linked to tumour recurrence, metastasis and treatment resistance.
What is ACSCeND?
- AI Framework: ACSCeND stands for AI-based Cancer Stem-like Cell Profiler and Neoplasm Deconvoluter.
- Three Cell States: It identifies pluripotent-like, multipotent-like and unipotent-like cancer stem-cell states.
- Bulk RNA Analysis: It uses insights from single-cell sequencing and deep learning to analyse bulk tumour RNA sequencing.
- Large-Scale Analysis: The framework was applied to more than 25,000 tumour samples from databases including TCGA and PRECOG.
