X1: World’s Largest Fully Battery-Powered Aircraft

On 12th August 2026, Swedish-founded Heart Aerospace successfully conducted the maiden flight of its X1, described as the world’s largest fully battery-powered aircraft.

  • The aircraft flew for 27 minutes entirely on battery power, demonstrating the feasibility of electric propulsion at the scale of a small commercial aircraft.

  • Electric aviation uses electric motors powered by batteries instead of conventional aircraft engines that burn aviation fuel.
