800 kN FFSC Rocket Engine
On 7th August 2026, Bengaluru-based Astrobase Space Technologies unveiled EVEREST; India’s first privately developed 800 kN Full-Flow Staged Combustion (FFSC) LOX-Methane rocket engine.
- With the development of EVEREST, India has become the fourth country after Russia, the US and China to develop FFSC rocket engine technology.
- The engine delivers 800 kN thrust, has a specific impulse of 340 seconds and supports a 50%–110% throttle range.
- EVEREST is designed for reusable medium-lift launch vehicles, with the aim of improving precision control, turnaround time and launch economics.
- Astrobase plans to manufacture and test around 20 engines before its first orbital flight, with a full-engine hot-fire test ....
