On 11th December 2025, NITI Aayog released a report, titled “Deepening the Corporate Bond Market in India”.
Key Findings
Market Expansion and Scale
- India’s corporate bond market has grown significantly over the past decade, expanding from Rs 17.5 trillion in FY2015 to Rs 53.6 trillion in FY2025.
- This represents a compound annual growth rate of around 12 percent, underscoring the increasing role of bond financing in the economy.
- Despite this progress, the market remains relatively shallow, accounting for only about 15 -16 percent of GDP, well below levels observed in peer economies such as South Korea and Malaysia.
