India’s Human Development Index (HDI) Trends
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite development indicator released annually by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 1990.
It measures a country’s average achievements in three core dimensions: health (life expectancy at birth), education (years of schooling for adults aged 25 years and more and expected years of schooling for children of school entering age), and standard of living (Gross National Income per capita). For India, HDI trends are an essential benchmark for evaluating inclusive growth and human capital development beyond GDP.
