Multidimensional Poverty Reduction in India
Multidimensional Poverty refers to poverty measured beyond income, capturing multiple deprivations faced by individuals across health, education, and standard of living indicators.
In India, multidimensional poverty reduction is assessed using the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), developed jointly by UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), and adapted nationally by NITI Aayog to reflect India’s development priorities.
