India Leads Global Push on Wildfire Management at UNEA-7
At the 7th session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7; 8th-12th December 2025) held in Nairobi, Kenya, India led a landmark resolution aimed at strengthening global cooperation on wildfire management, as wildfires emerge as a growing climate and environmental risk worldwide.
India-Led Resolution on Wildfire Management
- The resolution was drafted and spearheaded by India and received broad support from UN member states.
- It calls for coordinated international action to address the rising frequency, intensity, and impact of wildfires.
Scientific Basis and Global Risk
