Climate Risk Index (CRI) 2026
On 11th November 2025, the Climate Risk Index (CRI) 2026 was published by Germanwatch at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
About the Report
- First published in 2006, the Index is an annual assessment that ranks countries based on the human and economic impact of extreme weather events.
- It uses data from EM-DAT international disaster database, International Monetary Fund & World Bank.
- Three Hazard Categories
- Hydrological: It includes floods, glacial lake outbursts
- Meteorological: It includes storms, cyclones
- Climatological: It includes heatwaves, wildfires
- Ranking: A higher rank indicates greater vulnerability and damage from extreme weather events linked to human-induced climate change.
