FGD Technology: Combating Environmental Pollution
On 10th May, 2023, Union Ministry of Power presided over a high-profile meeting to review the results of a study conducted by IIT-Delhi on ambient atmospheric sulphur dioxide (SO2) concentrations and the effect of installing flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) technology on SO2 emissions in various categories of cities.
- The meeting assessed the compliance of thermal power plants across India to the new SO2 emission norms (2015) and agreed on a phased plan for FGD implementation in thermal power plants (TPPs) across the country.
