MoSPI Introduces Changes in PLFS
On 15th May 2025, National Statistics Office, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) introduced changes in Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) from January 2025.
The revamped PLFS aims to:
- Provide monthly estimates of key employment and unemployment indicators (viz. Labour Force Participation Rate, Worker Population Ratio, Unemployment Rate) for rural and urban areas at the all-India level using the Current Weekly Status (CWS) approach.
- Extend quarterly estimates to include rural areas, covering the entire country and major states under CWS.
- Generate annual estimates of employment and unemployment indicators in both Usual Status (ps+ss) and CWS for rural and urban areas.
