Achievements of Cooperatives in India
Cooperatives have re-emerged as key institutions for inclusive and grassroots economic development in India, supported by recent policy measures to strengthen their governance, efficiency, and market access.
Major Achievements
Cooperative Network and Membership
- Over 8.5 lakh cooperatives are registered in India, with 6.6 lakh functional, serving 32 crore members across 30 sectors.
- Around 10 crore women are linked to cooperatives through self-help groups (SHGs).
Digitalisation of PACS
- 79,630 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) approved for computerisation, with 59,261 actively using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Hardware has been delivered to 65,151 PACS, online audits completed in 42,730, and 32,119 ....
