India and the QUAD: Opportunities, Challenges, and the Road Ahead

On 26th May 2026, the Quad nations - India, Australia, Japan and the United States-announced new initiatives in maritime security, critical minerals, digital connectivity, energy resilience, and emerging technologies during the 11th Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi.

Key Deliberates of the Meeting

  • IPMDA Expansion: The countries expanded the Indo-Pacific Partnership for Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) and planned a Common Operating Picture system for real-time maritime monitoring.
  • Critical Minerals Framework: The Quad unveiled a framework to strengthen resilient supply chains for critical minerals through cooperation in mining, processing, and recycling.
  • Energy Security Initiative: The countries launched the Quad Initiative on Indo-Pacific ....
