Thyagaraja Aradhana
Owing to the spread of the Omicron variant, the duration of the 175th Thyagaraja Aradhana festival, which was scheduled to be held at Tiruvaiyaru (Tamil Nadu) for five days from January 18, has been reduced to one day.
Thyagaraja
- He was born in May, 1767, at Tiruvarur in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu.
- Belonged to a family of pious and scholarly telugu Brahmins whose family name was ‘kakarla’.
- His father, Rama Brahmam, was a distinguished exponent of the Ramayana and was patronized by Tulaja II, the ruler of Thanjavur.
- His compositions were inspired and infused with Rama bhakti.
