Sujal Gaon ID: Mapping Rural Piped Water Supply Schemes
On 13th March 2026, the Union government launched the Sujal Gaon ID.
What is Sujal Gaon ID?
- It is a scheme-based unique digital identifier assigned to each rural piped drinking water supply scheme in India.
- The initiative has been introduced under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, the flagship programme aimed at providing Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to all rural households in India.
Aim
- To digitally map and monitor rural drinking water infrastructure across the country.
- To improve transparency, strengthen service delivery, and promote evidence-based decision-making in rural water governance.
