7 Indian Natural Heritage Sites Added to UNESCO’s Tentative List
On 18th September 2025, India achieved another milestone in global heritage conservation with the inclusion of seven natural heritage sites in UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites.
- With this, India now has 49 cultural, 17 natural, and 3 mixed heritage properties, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding its natural and cultural legacy.
The Seven Natural Heritage Sites
- Deccan Traps at Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra
- Located within the Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, these areas contain some of the most well-preserved lava flows on Earth.
